The logo started from a design that I have used for various projects since the late 1990s. The Earth-like planet was first drawn with whimsical lines radiating from behind. This has been depicted in Flash projects as a sun, but that begs the question, how is the visible part of the planet lit?
For the blog logo (pictured above), I focused on the planet, sans solar rays. This is used to represent the world that would be shared through the blog. Updating an old image brings together the concepts of past and present, which quite nicely is the definition of a blog - in the sense that blogs always show you the present, but archive one's past. The name "Thousand Words" was chosen because of all the pictures that I would end up posting.
